First thought: I NEED THIS SHIRT

Second thought: Why the fuck is there a cross necklace right above the Star of David necklace?

Oh, little scenester, your conflicting ideologies are a hoot!

Home Brewing - Batch #2 (Irish Red Ale)

So last night I bottled my second batch of home brewed beer. It was an Irish Red Ale, but I tweaked the recipe and steeped much more of the roasted grains than it called for. In addition, I added an extra .2 lbs of honey to the boil. At the end, the color turned out quite dark, almost to the style of a brown ale. Because of the blood-like color, I’m calling this now-original recipe “McDracula’s Blood Red Ale.”

The measured alcohol by volume is 5.73%, which is pretty high for what the estimated amount was (5.33%). This batch - like my n00b-brewed IPA - came out a little murkier than I hoped, but I’ll be buying some Irish Moss with my next batch of ingredients to try and ensure a “cleaner” finished product. On the plus side, the siphoning of the fermented wort into the bottling bucket went much smoother this time around (God bless Youtube). I’m positive that the carbonation in this batch will be much more consistent from bottle to bottle. They’ll be ready to try come 2 weeks. For now, they’ll just have to carbonate in my cool, dark closet.

I’ll be posting pictures of my home brewing as soon as my Droids SD Card is no longer MIA. Feel free to follow me, as this has now become one of my favorite hobbies. I’ll be doing this shit ERRY CHANCE I GET.
